News & Notices
July 2001
- July 31, 2001 5:30pm. We had a problem with 593-9397/236-2266
ringing busy or fast busy. Upon calling verizon, they indicated 48 lines
which were supposed to be setup were not (so we've been down 48 lines for
a while). They fixed that and things are mostly OK now. We'll keep an eye
on that group of modems (138 lines). Things have just been fixed at 9:07
pm.
- July 30, 2001 4:30pm. Late this afternoon, some people who are
using the wireless at the Rockland courthouse are having some performance
trouble. Someone is working on it and we'll keep you updated. Update:
5:50pm This has been fixed. A customer's well-connected computer was
viciously infected with a worm and was producing huge amounts of
traffic. We notified the affected customer and things are fine now.
- July 27, 2001 11:35am. Some people in Camden had wireless
trouble starting at about 9:30 this morning. This has been fixed by one of
our staff with a visit to the top of Ragged Mountain. (Mostly adjusting
and programming the equipment that we installed at the beginning of the
week.)
- July 20, 2001 3:40pm. Some people in downtown Camden are having
wireless problems. This is being investigated and worked on right now and
we'll keep you updated. 4:15pm. Wireless is fixed for downtown now. There
are 2-3 sites still not working, but we're still at it.
- July 9, 2001 Late last night (July 8) the network monitoring
server (grounds) died (this also provides access to the wireless network and Union).
It was restarted at 8:30am. (We were not paged because this very reliable machine
also does network monitoring)
- July 4, 2001 10:10 to 10:15am. Some people may have had trouble
sending email for about 5 minutes while I restarted the mail software
on the server.
- July 2, 2001 5:00pm. We have a problem with one of our C&W
T1 links. This may cause slow browsing while we investigate the problem.
This was fixed at about 7:30pm by C&W in Boston.
- July 1, 2001 4:00pm. Power is out at Wiscasset, probably from
the storm. This will cause a busy signal for Wiscasset/Bath customers
until things are restored there. 5:00pm; Power is restored in Wiscasset.
- June 27, 2001 5:30pm. The Sell & Swap BBS and the Biznet
Bulletin Board have been upgraded to a newer version of the BBS software.
This will show the IP address of the poster. This will help us and
customers identify spammers or people with illegitimate posts easily. This
information (the IP address) is not and hasn't been secret in the past,
just more difficult to find (not on the post).
