Some statistics
Purchased September 13, 2002
First trip from dealer in Dover, N.H. to my dealer in Augusta, ME 83.4 mpg
for the 122 miles.
Local driving 65 mpg.
Second trip from Hope, ME to Yarmouth, ME on Sept. 24, 2002 yielded 84.6
mpg.
Total mpg about 600 miles on the car, 69 mpg.
Update (Sept,
2003)
At about 6000 miles, the lifetime mileage is 67.2 as a result of mostly
local driving. The
cold weather reduced mileage significantly. The 65 locally was reduced to
about
55 and the trip figure to about 72. The few slightly above freezing days
show a marked
increase. Part of the reduction is a result of the cold engine. I'm told
that the winter
gasolene formulation and the higher density of the cold air are also factors.
The warm summer
weather and 44 lbs of air in all tires have raised the local mpg to 72.
For winter driving
I'll set the pressure back to the recommended 38/35.
